Many aspiring Internet marketers sometimes get the impression that affiliate marketing is the only method to creating a good solid income from an online business. Unfortunately, if they only focus on this particular income stream then they lose out on an even better and more lucrative opportunity in creating their own product or ebook.

The truth is creating an ebook is no different than the process of sitting down and knocking out article after article in order to sell an affiliate product. Instead of only performing that task why not set aside a bit of time to work on your own product which could then be promoted by others as your affiliates.

In theory this may initially sound liek a valid issue but when you stop and realize the amount of time spent on writing and submitting articles to promote other merchants products and services you can easily see there is an opportunity to make time to build your own product. In many cases, if you merely took a week or two off from straight affiliate marketing and focused on writing your own product you would have a product that you could sell for many years.

Ebook Creation Myth #2: Fear of Failing

I'll be honest, this was one of the major reasons why I avoided creating my own products for several years. Quite frankly, I was worried about failing. Unfortunately this close minded attitude ended up costing me thousands and thousands of dollars in lost sales. What was my turning point? My epiphany came when I figured out that success and failure come hand in hand and that if I had one success for every few failures I would still be able to create more money then I thought possible from my own products.

Ebook Creation Myth #3: Not Being an Expert

Making a product in a niche that you are unfamiliar about can be difficult but honestly it doesn't take that long to become an authority figure on many topics. Additionally, in many cases you don't have to actually be the subject matter guru because there are plenty of bonafide experts in every niche that are willing to help write your ebook for you.
